Good pay and benefits, poor to average management and organization. - Software Engineer Ag Leader Technology Employee Review

Pros

Above average pay and benefits, with plenty of holidays. Some talented people scattered around. Interesting projects to work on if you have an interest in farming, or a farming background. Company is trying to move to more modern software development methods (SCRUM). Near the Iowa State University campus if you're interested in a college sports and/or atmosphere.

Cons

The company has a pure agriculture focus, so company financials follow the farm market very closely. And, release cycles are linked strongly to farm activities with not much schedule flexibility. It's great that the software group is trying to move to a more modern development processes, but it keeps reorganizing and expanding scope by pulling in other groups. Trying to be everything to everyone? The engineering departments are walled gardens with poor communication between them making it a challenging maze to follow if you need information from other groups.

Pros

Privately held company that really focuses on solving customer needs. The people here are great to work with. Flexible work enviornment (some positions are hybrid or remote) Decent time off offering (vacation in addition to personal time) Sustainable work volume Family values (that are real vs just stated, I have time with my loved ones at home and I can take time when needed) Approachable leadership Culture initiatives in place

Cons

Due to their nature, some positions are not available as hybrid or remote. It took me the longest to fill out this space, it was difficult to think of a con.
