Pros
If you can survive with little to no benefits and a low compensation plan, you can get your start in the solar industry. I have never worked at a company where so many senior employees were willing to mentor and train newbies.
Cons
Compensation (base salaries + profit sharing or commission plan) is very low compared to the rest of the industry. The benefits package is weak at best. The management team has high aspirations about becoming a major distributor in the solar industry but they can't make the transition from a retail call center/solar techie organization to a sales-oriented professional organization like their competitors. The management team is also very reactive instead of proactive. Direction and priorities change on a monthly basis resulting in +/- 30% swings in annual sales revenue. The management team doesn't know how to leverage the sales and marketing experience of their more senior team members who have worked in other successful industries.
