Pros

I left just before the announcement of the LOreal acquisition, but I was there for 10 years and loved it. Loads of free product. Passionate people. Entrepreneurial spirit. Everyone pulled together to make things work. Clear DE&I Strategy. Intellectually stimulating. Amazing attention to detail. Lots of clear leadership development training for all levels of retail. Amazing onboarding. Strong, Retail focused brand.

Cons

It does attract a certain type of person, and if you were not of that type then you often found it difficult to fit in. In later years, KPIs became the ONLY conversation, whereas previously it used to be about human connection and creating an experience. I hear now that it is a part of LOreal that the original Aesop culture is completely gone and it is now just a standard LOreal brand… nothing unique exists.

Pros

Employee discount, very low income , flexible schedule,

Cons

I worked there for two years, and in December last year I was informed the store would close, which left me with no option but to resign on the same day due to the need to cover my rent. Strangely, the next day the same decision-maker announced that the store would remain open and that a new store manager would be appointed, a plan that has still not materialized after seven months. In the interim, the store has operated with interim managers and a reduced staff, while pay remains low and the culture has deteriorated, leading to ongoing turnover and a perception of practices that are not consistent with fair and respectful treatment of employees.
