Pros

A great learning experience on how not to run a business.

Cons

I’ve had nothing but frustration and disappointment for most of my tenure there. Executive leadership was irrational, profoundly deficient in leadership abilities, failed to take responsibility for their own failures, and had no respect for their employees. The work environment was contentious and hostile, with the owner bullying and belittling employees with incongruous and ostentatious remarks in front of others, occasionally yelling and cursing with increased frequency without provocation or reciprocation of said behavior. Key labor positions were routinely understaffed for the amount of work required with the expectation of working additional hours (including weekends) with no regard to work/life balance. Their Quality Management System was ineffective with no controls in place due to the owner’s failure to implement progressive discipline. The Quality Department was understaffed, underqualified, micromanaged by the owner, and conflicted with the expectation to also perform manufacturing/installation tasks to mitigate labor shortfalls. Directors/Managers were expected to fulfill multiple roles without additional compensation. Executive leadership openly had favorites, talked bad about any employee who wasn’t in front of them at the time, micromanaged in lieu of empowerment, exerted impropriety of Manager/Director decisions when trying to do what’s right, retained the wrong people, mistreated the right people they should be retaining, they have no reward program, executive leadership failed to heed suggestions because they already knew everything about anything and have done it better, and the patriarch of the company exhibits neurotic and narcissist behavior.

Pros

Throughout my time at Aerovation, I watched my deserving colleagues move up in the company in recognition of their work ethic. Aerovation is the perfect small business to work for if you are looking for a company to move up in and learn along the way. I received plenty of one-on-one feedback from the owner(s), which you rarely will get when working for a large company. The supervisors are all approachable and genuinely care about their employees. I always felt my comments/ concerns were addressed when I expressed them. I am grateful for my time spent there, as I gained a variety of career experience that will benefit me in the future. I was able to take on a number of roles that interested me, another benefit of working for a small company. I am sad to hear that a few people did not enjoy their time at Aerovation. I believe if you have the wherewithal to understand that not all business decisions are easy to make (have some sympathy for management), you would bypass the frustration that I assume the negative former employees have with the company. My supervisors were approachable and accommodating with work hours, which I truly appreciated and saw benefit many other employees with families. Aerovation is a great place to work for those that are dedicated and looking to get out of their positions what they put in.

Cons

May lack some benefits when compared to a large company, but they still generous

Pros

If you manage to stay out of the war path (best of luck to you), it’s an okay place to collect a paycheck until you find a real job or career.

Cons

Aerovation has become a toxic environment that encourages backstabbing and, in my opinion, deceit. They are singularly some of the most morally objectionable people that I have had the displeasure to meet. Management is impotent in their ability to actually be leaders and role models for their employees, instead they take no responsibility for their personal failures because they feel that their position makes them immune to the incompetence that they are fully capable of and have more often than not demonstrated. If you are not designated the scapegoat, then you may instead be victimized when they are either found to be at fault or constantly harangued for a passed deadline or something that broke, especially if it is not in your department and you have absolutely no input in the project at hand.

Aerovation Response

I know that you had some hard times working for us. You also did a great job getting us through some hard times, which we all greatly appreciate. We had high hopes for you and thought you would do well. We clearly needed to work on our communication. I am sorry that I did not step in more than I did. Have you read the other reviews? Some of them are criticizing your management. My only suggestion is read the criticisms and address them head on like I will for Aerovation. I truly wish you the best with your new position. Thank you for your hard work. You were an excellent technician.
