Pros
The passion that the team at Aerion exudes for what we're doing is invigorating, we have virtually none of the "warm-bodies" that are easy to find in a larger, more established companies. The leadership team is highly experienced and very intelligent. I don't always agree with their mindset or solutions - but they DO have what it takes to build an airplane. We're very well funded - we have overcome some major hurdles to get where we are today and I sincerely believe that we have a high probability of success, despite our audacious goal. There is a ridiculous amount of opportunity for career advancement at this company. If you prove your value and competence you will have no trouble increasing your responsibilities and your pay.
Cons
While the work environment is a great one, the management does not seem to give enough thought to their employees life outside of work. Work/Life balance will continue to be an issue as we're working towards very aggressive milestones - that's just the reality of the situation. However, the company has not done a good job as positioning themselves as advocates for employees pursuing the things they love in their free time, I hope to see this improve in the future. Many folks are coming form established corporate work environments and it is beginning to show in a lack of mental flexibility about the way we can solve problems. Concerns about security and ignorance of modern solutions have already begun to hamper what should be an extremely agile and forward-thinking technology company.
