Cons
There are almost too many to think of. There's no overtime pay and during the busy season some of us are expected to work well over 40 hour weeks. Almost none of the managers try to actually run their departments. The general manager is stretched incredibly thin doing so many other managers jobs, and she doesn't have time to do things that actually matter. Everyone knows the jax beach location is on its last legs so very little effort is put in, and anyone who tries gets immensely burned out. Somehow every department is fully staffed but we are also always short staffed on the busiest days. The "informal" culture leads to a lack of any respect for managers, which causes stress, resentment, and unfinished work to fall onto other people's shoulders. The CEO is out of touch and cares very little about ensuring his employees are taken care of, but cares very much about tattoos and piercings, even though he lets it slide for people he likes. Favoritism and cliques matter more than actual performance. Upper management are over paid for what they actually do, and everyone else makes minimum wage or a few dollars above it. Half the staff are entitled teenagers who don't need their jobs and are being "taught responsibility" by their parents or just want a little pocket change, and the rest of us are trying to actually make a living and pay bills on less than what you can make at McDonald's. For most people there are no benefits, no PTO, nothing. Just misery. And its also just gross. God forbid anyone shell out a little extra cash to hire dedicated sanitation staff or have cleaners come out every now and then, cheaper to pass it off to apathetic teenagers.
