Pros
-Free lunch: They provide free lunch everyday, which was quite convenient. The food wasn’t exceptional, but wasn’t too bad either. HOWEVER, the founder would scrutinize what you take and make you put back food you’ve already placed on your plate if she thinks you took to much. -Some coworkers are nice and helpful: Some of the coworkers were extremely nice and was a breeze to work with. They communicated well and would help you out in difficult situations. -Stretching exercises: They have a stretching session everyday at 4.30pm at the beginning the daily training (4.30-5.30pm). I think this is a good way to relax the muscles that’s been tensed up throughout the day and to just unwind and get ready to end work.

-Irrelevant job duties: I was first hired as an accountant for the company, but two months into the job, I was suddenly told to move to front desk. I didn’t mind because I thought I would still be doing accounting, but turns out I had to perform front desk duties full-time. A week after being moved to front desk, the receptionist that used to be there disappeared and left all her duties to me without training me on what to do and how to do them. The CEO and founder would yell at me for not completing what was supposed to be someone else’s duties. The worst part was I had to do MEDICAL duties even though I had no medical expertise at all. They made me do what an aesthetician would do (slimspec, rf, coolsculpting), which I wasn’t trained on nor licensed to do. On top of that, I had to do laundry, throw out trash, and restock bathrooms. None of those things was in the job description when I first applied nor was I informed of those things during the interview. -Some coworkers don’t do their jobs: Some of the people in the company were just there and barely did anything. There was one doctor who kept asking me to do his report because he did not want to do it. The other doctor would constantly ask me to photocopy her documents. Another doctor would constantly nag at us for not keeping the place clean. None of these duties was supposed to be mine and I still did them anyway in addition to my own original duties. Overall, some of the people were just rude and incnosiderate, expecting other people to finish their work for them. -Misleading: During the interview, I was told that I would be working for Advanced Research Center. However, what they didn’t tell me was that they had another business called Anti-Fragility Health. I didn’t find out until my first day that I would be working from Anti-Fragility Health rather than Advanced Research Center. I find that this is misleading and that they should have been upfront to their interviewees about which company they would really be working for. -Favoritism: It was very apparent that there was favoritism shown by the CEO within the company. He only retained people who he felt could be manipulated by him and just fired everyone who didn’t agree with him. It felt very much like a dictatorship. He would defend people who obviously didn’t do their jobs rights just because they would do EVERYTHING he asked, even irrelevant duties. -Benefits: When I first joined the company, I was told I would be eligible for benefits (health, dental, vision, PTO) within 90 days of joining. However, during my 2nd month, the CEO announced that he would be cancelling insurance. His reason was: “We run a health clinic so you should believe in what we’re doing. You should take supplements to prevent getting sick before actually getting sick.” HOWEVER, the CEO himself still had health insurance, which shows that he himself didn’t believe in the purpose of the business. He just wanted to cancel benefits to cut costs and make his own employees buy products from the business to increase sales. -How you look and dress: The founder would constantly criticize how you look and dress. Before my first day of work, I asked HR about the dress code in the company and she told me it was casual (as long as no jeans, t-shirts, open-toed shoes), so that was how I dress everyday. However, ever since I was moved to front desk, the founder would constantly yell at me about my appearance and how I dress. She would yell at me to smile at the customers, which I did. One of my coworkers even got yelled at for not wearing makeup; the exact words were "You should wear makeup! Why are you not taking care of your face?!". Those criticisms were very offensive given the fact that none of us were hired to be customer service/receptionist. We were hired as accounting/marketing, were given duties that had nothing to do with our job description, and constantly got yelled at for not meeting the "standards". Note: I had an offer from a high-end world-class hotel and did not take the offer because I would have to commute 2 hours everyday. Biggest regret of my life for choosing this company over that.
