Pros

-AEE does amazing work on clean energy policy and anyone should be proud to work here -Company culture is second to non. AEE is a remote organization, but does an fantastic job maintaining strong culture -Profit sharing program which is rare for non-profit orgs -Lots of opportunities to grow within your role and take on more responsibilities (con is that you have a hard time getting extra compensation for those extra responsibilities)

Cons

-CEO is kind of arrogant, but you don't have much interaction with him so that's okay -Annual pay increases are pretty pathetic -Decisions made by upper management in a vacuum. Don't consult lower level employees and they are on the ones cleaning up the mess

Pros

I joined the organization 10 years ago and have moved up the ranks to become a managing director. What has kept me for so long is: 1) I love my co-workers. It's a joy and a privilege to get to work with such kind, smart, dedicated people. 2) The work is highly meaningful and impactful. 3) Work-life balance/ flexibility is terrific. I appreciate the ability to do meaningful work while having my need for balance/ personal life well respected.

Cons

We're growing rapidly which brings challenges but the organization has done a good job of adapting and supporting employees as needed.

Pros

-remote work -benefits and paid leave -people are friendly if you're the right fit for the org FYI this org is now called Advanced Energy United

Cons

If you're hoping to grow in your career in the near term, this org might not be the best fit for you. -They are doing a lot of hiring, not promoting up as much -Lack of accountability for some team members, but others get scrutinized more -Lack of communication from management, makes it harder to do your job and learn from them -employees can't review managers (and imo they really should) -limited opportunities for mentorship -job can feel siloed and repetitive
