Generic retail job without promotion potential - Retail Parts Pro Advance Auto Parts Employee Review

Pros

20% discount and working with some nice people are about the only reasons to work at the store. You do learn quite a bit about working on cars from working there.

Cons

District managers are generally recruited from other retail positions. Store managers are generally uneducated and worked their way up to their position over the course of 8 - 10 years. Pay is terrible compared to management at other retail stores. Corporate initiatives focus on a different "hot topic" almost every month, constantly changing directions. New hire training is almost non-existent (wasn't always this way).

Pros

A lot of schedule flexibility

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism/bad management, especially in the DC that I work in. (DC-41)

Pros

It’s a pretty easy job, very fun people to work with. Hours as a driver are pretty consistent.

Cons

The pay isn’t great. It would be nice if the drivers were making at least $17 or $18 an hour. Also benefits don’t extend to health insurance only dental and vision if you are only considered part-time. Anybody that isn’t the GM, CPP, and RPP are considered part-time, regardless of the hours you get.
