There are a lot of problems with diversity and discrimination in general. Employees are taught to avoid candidates with certain ethnic backgrounds or from certain countries. People would use letters to code candidates in the system, the codes would usually include someone’s race, gender, size, age etc. People said it helped them remember who the candidate was but it was also used to make sure we didn’t send certain races to clients who asked us to discriminate.
There was no diversity in the office or across the company for the size of the company you would expect more. We didn’t have workplace harassment or diversity training. There were many work related drinking events usually a couple a week. There were always inappropriate things going on at those events. Executives would participate when in town. If you complained about the behavior you were told that “it’s part of the culture”.
