Pros

Good resume builder and you learn the digital advertising business as well as sales skills, Surprisingly good health insurance and PTO

Cons

For 90% of the employees, AdKarma is a starter job where they will be less than 18 months. By the time you get close to your co-workers, they move on to bigger and better things. Pay is inadequate. Commission potential is much lower than management will have you believe. I was told I had potential to make 6 figures, realistically you'll be lucky to make 40k before taxes. No recognizable culture

Thank you for the feedback. We appreciate you highlighting the company’s outstanding benefits, as well as our sales training. To address some of the comments you made – first, AdKarma is fortunate to be surrounded by some outstanding colleges and universities, and we recruit heavily from this excellent pool of young talent. So for many of our team members, this is their first job out of school. While we hope to retain our talented employees long-term, we realize being in a college town, it is inevitable that we will lose some of our valued team members over time to larger markets. However, now that we are part of a publicly-traded company with offices around the country, it gives us options that we did not have before as far as retaining talent. Over the past couple years, we have had several individuals explore opportunities to stay with the company and work out of a different RhythmOne office (i.e. NYC, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco). Furthermore, our base salaries are competitive with the market and experience level of the person applying for a position, and there is an annual review process that gives everyone an opportunity to receive a raise. There is also strong potential to make healthy commission as an account executive. With any sales position, what you put into it, is what you will get out of it. That being said, some individuals are better suited for sales than others. We have seen numerous team members over the years make 2x-3x their base salaries after commission is factored in, and we have seen other individuals make six-figure incomes repeatedly over the years. One of our management philosophies surrounding client service that we try to instill in our team members is never to over-promise and under-deliver. We certainly wouldn’t over-promise and tell our own valued AdKarma team members about compensation potential if we didn’t wholeheartedly believe that hitting those numbers was absolutely obtainable. As far as company culture, I would love to understand your feelings around that a bit more and see where we can improve. Feel free to discuss with me or share any ideas and feedback with your direct manager. Finally, as far as mixing up the day to day to prevent burn out...one of the great things about working at AdKarma is that we give our team members the freedom to structure and plan their own day. Each person knows their work style best to prevent burn out, and we have confidence in our team members to structure their day how they want to, while still helping achieve company and personal goals and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We also regularly plan fun events in the office to help break up the day, and there are monthly team activities outside of the office that help promote team building and provide a break as well. – Best, Ann Wilhelm, SVP Operations

Pros

AdKarma is a pivotal player in the continually evolving digital advertising industry. This ad tech company provides team members with the unique opportunity to grow in a dynamic business that is international in scope. The fast paced environment of the office is ideal for driven, self-motivated, and high performing individuals. Team members that demonstrate these qualities are entrusted with projects and initiatives early on in their career that have a visible impact on the entire organization. One of the greatest benefits of working at AdKarma is the upper management team. Senior managers are committed to the growth & success of all employees at the company. Each manager has an open door policy and is always willing to meet with team members to discuss individual goals/challenges. It is a rarity for a company's senior officers to genuinely value the opinions of its employees, however, this can be said of both AdKarma and its parent organization, RhythmOne. AdKarma's SVP sincerely cares about the career growth of all employees. During my first two weeks of training at AdKarma, the SVP personally checked in with me multiple times to discuss how the training process was going and provide encouragement. Additionally, RhythmOne's CEO is committed to open communication, frequently having "fireside chats" with the entire organization to ensure transparency. This type of support and communication has continued throughout my time with the company. For those that are interested in beginning a successful career in Ad Tech, I recommend AdKarma.

Cons

Sometimes, the individual projects you are working on can become stressful, however, management does an excellent job of providing support and boosting your morale.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the recognition of our dedicated team members, as well as the wonderful opportunities this exciting industry affords us. Also, your comment about the industry continually evolving is correct. A new adventure awaits us every day! While it can be exhilarating at times, there can also be those days that are the exact opposite as you mentioned. However, our team strives to provide the support and guidance especially on those “tougher” days, knowing that the following day, a new adventure awaits. Again, thank you for your feedback. – Best, Ann Wilhelm, SVP Operations
