Pros

This job is very flexible and you can manage work around your own schedule. Management listens to advice and implements ideas we give to improve. I really feel like the people working here believe in the company's mission and it is great to get to interact with so many successful and intelligent tutors.

Cons

Work is sporadic, with more work during the school year but less during holidays and over the summer. Since there is no office, I sometimes let work blend into personal time when I shouldn't.

Pros

I have been a tutor with APL for almost 3 years now and had it not been for Shayna, the founder, giving me a chance right out of graduate school, I don’t know where I’d be. Being an APL tutor thoroughly prepared me for being in the classroom full-time as I am now a full-time teacher for a great charter school. All of the experiences I had with students both in and outside the classroom was invaluable. Every training, every tutoring session, and every logging in of notes made me feel super confident to apply and interview for educator positions. Now I am in charge of my own classroom! If you are just out of college or in transition with jobs and looking for something new and rewarding, then try Action Potential Learning. Very friendly staff, full support in your success as a tutor is given and they are always appreciative of the work you do with the students. While it is mostly part-time, it is good pay, flexible schedule and Shayna is great about giving enthusiastic tutors first priority when extra tutoring assignments come up. One year, I worked with two schools every day-- one in the morning and another in the afternoon, which gave me a lot of hours.

Cons

It is mostly part-time work.
