Pros

Treated as an adult. Never had anyone micromanaging me in the least. They are always respectful to me. The company has great potential but upper management just can't seem to get it together.

Cons

Dead head miles. You may take a load to Portland and drive empty, with no pay, back to Atlanta or Hanceville. The freight rates fall lower and lower. If you bring home 700 in a week you are doing well. Additional training in haz mat does not happen even though their recruiting poster lists it as a bullet point. Requesting additional training is ignored. New drivers get a general orientation of a chemical tank and are then sent out to figure the rest out on their own. Extremely dangerous practice. The company does not have a training program whereby a new driver rides with an experienced tank operator. The new driver leaves orientation and steps straight into their own truck and tank. How the company has avoided a major spill or worse is miraculous.

Pros

The IT Director and CTO are phenomenal. Communication is key in IT and their skills shine when a directive is given. There were many such cases in which a problem had arose in a random part of the company's workflow(typical events working in IT), and either the director or CTO already were able to provide a clear and sound solution for us to then execute. There were also times where it was slow, very few tickets trickling in and that is a sign that the current infrastructure and the processes they have implemented work very well. As it is a trucking company - they use the industry standard when it comes to their TMS provider, McLeod. I learned a lot in my career from Action, and the knowledge I gained from my Director and CTO is invaluable. If you are sick, or need to work remote in some cases, you are allowed to. Great location downtown with a lot of food options. Solid benefits

Cons

Although it is a great location, Action doesn't cover your parking fee and it is docked from your pay. Along with it being in the prime of downtown, you have to deal with the traffic getting in-and-out of Birmingham which is terrible. Homeless can be aggressive to the general populace in downtown 401k match is only 4%
