Pros

Working from home during COVID and a decent 401K package.

Cons

The company is extremely lean, so you end up wearing multiple hats and get heavily involved in activities outside the scope of your work. This is time consuming and incredibly frustrating when you are just trying to do your own job. I attribute some of the leanness to the company not winning major proposals and contracts during a time when the competition was thriving. The executive team does not either understand or has turned a blind eye to the conditions many of their teams are in. I felt like I could not do the work I was hired to do because I spent too much chasing down trivial stuff. There was no respect for work-life balance despite people like me putting in extra time over weekdays and weekends during a global pandemic. There was also a lack of respect and professionalism for employees with children – comments were made that I took exception to but I could not be bothered to escalate to HR. Ask yourself this question: will HR do anything and who pays their bills? HR is not your friend. Resources and support for mental health were either scarce or non-existent. This is not a good environment for anyone that wants to have a work-life balance or is trying to raise a family. I cannot emphasize these points enough. As for performance feedback and employee evaluation, I found the company’s practices deceptive and sneaky. It was not timely and what little feedback I did get was vague and unhelpful. Most places I’ve worked had bi-weekly and monthly touch points to review performance and assess workloads, but that wasn’t the case here. Given the business outlook for the company, I eventually saw this place as a sinking ship. I did not enjoy my time here and/or the people I worked for. I did not trust them or respect them.
