Pros
didnt have to work overtime or weekends
Cons
I worked in the engineering dept for 3 years in the early 1990s. So maybe a lot has changed since then. We were given a list of how many minutes we spent on the phone each month (this was before cell phones) if we had over 15 minutes a month of phone usage during company time we were warned. It worked out to about 4 minutes a week. Also 1 week of vacation after a year. We didn't earn it as we went along-we had to wait 12 months until we could take paid time off. We could only take it in a one week block. Another words we couldn't take a day off here and there. They were extremely strict on being away from your desk or being late from lunch. 2% bonus each year. The pay was about 10% less than competitors. Ironic that they made stainless sinks and toilets for prisons. It felt like i worked in a prison. So glad i left.
