Cons
Examples are from my own experience with the company 1. They're opportunistic. They'll exploit the hell out of you until you yourself would want to quit from the company. They demand too much from the teachers like there is only a 5-minute interval before the next class, yet they require teachers to enter the class 2 mins. before the time and leave 2 mins. after without considering that you still have next class and that you will have to input the class remarks which by the way they require on time. Trust me, you will be exhausted by how they demand so much from you. 2. They'll lure you with great offers that according to their Facebook ad, a teacher will earn 30,000 to 60,000 a month. COMPLETELY FALSE. When I started with them the initial offer is 95php an hour, unbooked classes in the evening will still be paid and since I was still a newbie then, I was not allowed to open classes in the morning except Saturday and Sunday. A teacher needs to earn certain points to be regularized and so I did. Upon regularization too, there is again another point system you need to follow and achieve for your salary increase. The salary increase will be based on asking your student EVERY CLASS to give you five star rating and each 5stars is equivalent to 2 points. But if you're late or cancelled a class, you will be deducted with 20pts. But still, I oblige because I really wanted to have a salary increase. I worked hard and asked students for 5-star rating every class and when I was able to do so, I was so happy and gladly inform my supervisor that I will be getting an increase and she even congratulated me and this will be reflected immediately. The salary increase that I got was 5 PESOS. MOTHER OF ALL HOLY HELP ME! I even argued and contested if I heard her right, and she said with all conviction, Congratulations! You will be promoted to level C2 with a salary increase of 5 pesos making my salary 100php/hour. What the actual Fudge! 3. They change rules -- ALL THE TIME I went on a vacation but still continuously got an update from my supervisor and in that span of time, there were lots of changes from their policy and lots of demands stating that they're just following Philippine rules but they're not even obliging to DOLE policy for employee benefits like SSS, PhilHealth and PagIbig. The nerve, Acadsoc! The most crucial change that they made is the unbooked classes at night by which they will no longer pay the teachers which is now contrary to their previous promise and by which sets them different from other ESL companies. What a scam. Typical Chinese money trap. I talked about this with my supervisor and she legit just removed me from being a teacher because she think I am not satisfied with the job and doesn't believe with the company. They don't accept comments about how badly they manage teachers and how they constantly exploit us. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! Please save yourself the effort and just simply walk away from this company. They don't deserve diligent Filipino teachers. You deserve so much more that a bunch of opportunistic Chinese exploiting you.
