Pros
The classes and tutoring jobs are often rewarding, and this job provides fairly flexible hours.
Cons
Company's pay rate is below industry standard-- they've had a freeze on raises for over two years, reduced administrative pay rate without notifying the employees, and continue to find ways to minimize the ways in which tutors can be compensated for their time. Work has been particularly inconsistent since the pandemic began, with very little communication about hours available and upcoming tutoring seasons. It seems clear that the contracts and prospects for tutoring opportunities has been mismanaged during the pandemic, with many opportunities falling through or changing last minute. This job cannot be used as a main source of income or even a stable source of income, although many other tutoring companies are able to offer part-time/freelance tutoring positions as a stable, main source of their employee's income. This inconsistency, paired with bad communication and an unclear, ever-changing managerial structure, makes Academic Approach a very difficult and untrustworthy employer for even a part-time employee. It does not compare to the positions and pay rates available at other tutoring companies.
