Strong AI culture, mostly good people

I worked at this company for a considerable period, and I feel compelled to share my experience as it might be insightful for potential candidates. However, I choose to remain anonymous to protect my identity. One major challenge we faced was the severe lack of revenue, which put an immense amount of stress on the business as a whole. This financial strain impacted various aspects of the company's operations, contributing to an overall atmosphere of uncertainty. Moreover, a noticeable power struggle was eminent among the top-level executives, which negatively affected decision-making processes and hindered progress. It was disheartening to witness how this internal struggle trickled down and impacted the overall work environment. Regrettably, the company recently resorted to implementing secretive layoffs. Disconcertingly, both employees who had been with the organization for a few months and those with many years of service were affected. This sudden downsizing not only caused disruption but also undermined employee morale, creating a sense of uncertainty and job insecurity among the workforce. Additionally, I observed a steady decline in the people culture within the organization. The once supportive and collaborative atmosphere had deteriorated, leading to a less comfortable and engaging work environment.

We know that not everyone thrives under these conditions. For those that do, we enjoy working together to solve big problems, accomplish goals, celebrate successes big and small, and contribute to our growth in meaningful ways. We do our best to proactively check our egos so that we can have thoughtful and constructive conversations with one another, always in the best interest of the company’s growth. We believe this practice has helped us evolve quickly and achieve venturesome goals that have gotten us to where we are today, and that will continue to help us grow as we continue to operate in hyper-growth mode. While the company has had the privilege of never having to RIF for financial reasons, it’s never easy to have to say goodbye to a team member, regardless of circumstances. When we do find ourselves in this position, we aim to handle things with great care and compassion because we believe that’s what all of our team members deserve. Pros

Compensation and benefits remain competitive. The company is also home to many talented and capable colleagues who are a pleasure to work with. The mission and level of ambition are still compelling, and they continue to be the primary reasons many employees remain committed to the organization

Cons

This company was once an exceptional place to work, with strong execution and the resources needed to succeed. Unfortunately, it now feels like an organization struggling to stay on course. The decline in culture has been particularly striking. As recently as last year, the work environment was highly positive and aligned with many of the favorable reviews posted here. However, over the past months, a number of senior leaders have departed, and the company has encountered significant challenges. As a result, the culture has deteriorated at an alarming pace. One of the most concerning issues is the company’s apparent difficulty managing growth. Several leadership hires made over the past year have had a negative impact on the organization, with the most recent addition being especially problematic. Employee dissatisfaction is becoming increasingly evident.
