Cons
I joined Abri as a Treasury Assistant with the intention of growing within a finance team that claimed to support development and collaboration. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite.
From day one, training was inconsistent, rushed, and full of contradictions. I was expected to perform tasks like month-end accruals and intercompany invoicing with minimal guidance, and when I sought help, I was often met with vague responses or outdated training notes. Much of the learning was left to trial and error.
To make matters worse, Abri was going through two rapid mergers during my time there, but this was never transparently communicated when I joined. Instead of providing support through the upheaval, management placed blame on new starters when systems and processes were clearly not fit for purpose. Despite raising valid concerns about unclear procedures and the lack of proper support, I was dismissed under the pretense of underperformance — a convenient outcome when the company was clearly looking to reduce staff due to overexpansion.
There was no fair assessment of capability, no structured feedback, and no opportunity to succeed — just poor communication and internal disorganisation. It felt like I was set up to fail from the beginning.
