Pros
I have been working at AbleTo for about a year as a remote employee. - Relationship with my manager: the relationship I have with my manager is probably the most impactful on my happiness in the workplace. I feel supported, and rewarded when I go the extra mile. - Opportunity to make an impact: the tools that we build (digital/online therapy software applications) give me the sense that we are doing something meaningful. Customers' feedback keeps me motivated. - Learning and development: I am learning a lot from my peers. I am part of a small development team that releases features frequently. Often, the quickest way to get things done is by pair testing/pair programming. - Company culture: AbleTo embraces the remote culture. Technical challenges exist but are addressed most of the time. I also appreciate that the maangement puts an emphasis on clarity and creates an environment with open communication. - Benefits: they are on par with the rest of the industry. Medical insurance is 100% paid by the employer. The 401(k) match could be better. In addition to Paid Time Off, employees also receive floating holidays and "mental health days".
Cons
- Even though this is a well-established company, it can sometimes feel that my team operates more like a startup. It is not necessarily a bad thing. As engineers, we are given a certain level of freedom when it comes to making technical decisions. I just think that process-wise, things could be better. My team could benefit from an Agile consultant to help improve process and methodology.
