Pros

fairly easy work to do with some technical knowledge different events every day unsupervised most of the time

Cons

locations having to swap equipment or ship it over from the warehouse - often booked events for which we are unequipped People promoted to middle management (aka on-site directors) too often get promoted due to brown-nosing, exploiting and/ or sabotaging fellow employees, and any other method necessary to climb the ladder. These directors, in turn, tend to favor yes-men and sycophants who are afraid to argue with said director, or bring their own new solutions to problems. You don't want to be too ambitious when hoping for a promotion or raise. If they suspect you might be making them look bad (regardless of whether it's their fault) you may soon find that you've been inexplicably torn to shreds on your performance review (even if you've never received a client complaint) and you're suddenly the scapegoat for basically every problem that occurs. If you take out the office trash every time it's full, for months straight, (as much every other technicians duty as it is yours) and then you forget to do it once, you can get written up. Finish all your setups for the night and clock out 30 minutes early (forfeiting your pay for the time difference) and you can get written up. Stay past your scheduled time because the director miscalculated - or straight up ignored/ forgot - what time the last groups of the day would finish up and you'll get a writeup. Donate your time to finish those late setups by working off the clock, adding up to a whole shift's worth of hours over the span of a week, week-after-week (because you suspect they want a reason to fire you and are overcompensating)? You guessed it, writeup! Oh and you're going to find that a lot of your lunch breaks are remarkably similar to your time spent working! And yes, they expect you to be clocked out for those "breaks".
