Pros

Overtime opportunities, a small handful of holidays w/2xpay (overtime up to 65 hours/week) Opportunities to advance to paramedic

Cons

Pay sucks Expect management to not stick to the union contract for the EMT level expect 40% of your calls to be 911's, the rest to be routine transfers Office will be upset if you ask for help for bariatric patients

Pros

Good pay, good field training officers for new EMTs.

Cons

Toxic upper management, people who will talk about you behind your back, serious lack of mental health support, until you are senior in the company (if you get to that point) you have not a say in anything and everyone will look down upon you. Management let me go under the guise of having missed exactly 4 days during my 90 day probationary period (when I got sick with the flu, tried to tough it out, then picked up a secondary bacterial infection at work), I had doctor's notes to provide for documentation, finally felt better and came in only to be let go - but I am pretty sure it was due to a senior paramedic I worked with who told management I was mentally unfit for my job. Aetna, you could have at least been honest about why you were letting me go. They let me go 1 week prior to end of probationary period and being covered by the state for unemployment.
