Pros
APL has proven to be a good employer. Not perfect, but overall has been a good place to work. Opportunities exist but employees frequently do not apply for them or aren't willing to take proactively take on additional responsibilities that justify advancement. I have advanced 5 times during my years of employment with APL but it has been my responsibility to work for it.
Cons
Annual reviews have changed template/format many times through the years and have appeared to be ineffective in measuring performance. That being said, employees have responsibility for showing accountabilities are met. Also, top leadership has committed within the last year to streamlining the entire review process.
