Pros
Pay is good for the skill level of work (technician and scientist I both require lower than graduate level laboratory skills). Flexible working hours depending on the manager.
Cons
Very blatant nepotism seen in the largest department of the UK site. Hiring and promoting friends of managing staff, leading to low staff morale and an overall toxic environment. Managers are clearly inexperienced and this reflects in the high level of staff turnover. Horrendous attitude to the 2020 pandemic, making laboratory staff come in through the first wave lockdown, working unsociable hours with no managers on site, and not paid overtime or unsociable hours pay. Clear favouritism within teams, with only some individuals put forward for internal promotions and skill development, whilst others deliberately held back. Very typical for a start-up company, so I was unsurprised but let down nonetheless. This company is deemed to fail with its current staff culture.
