      Pros

      Good benefits/insurance, fast paced environment, primary 911, great coworkers, advancement opportunities, company policies protect from overworking

      Cons

      Morale was low. Your off time was more or less a suggestion even if it wasn't busy. Management was not always understanding of "life." Management would guilt trip you into working an open shift that needed to be filled.

      Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

      Cons

      Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

      Pros

      AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

      Cons

      Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
