      Pros

      In my 911 system we have fairly new equipment and are able to work side by side fire departments as well participate in community events and be active within the community.

      Cons

      Just like most agencies in private EMS it is hard to keep a steady influx of employees and some leave to go on to further their career in the medical field. With that it creates open shifts and mandated overtime

      Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

      Cons

      Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

      Pros

      AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

      Cons

      Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
