Pros

As an EMT working for a service that primarily handled inter-facility transfers, I was able to gain valuable experience with direct patient contact and report writing; something I was not able to do working for a 911 service.

Cons

Very old ambulances with various mechanical. AMR going Corporate right before I was hired made requesting leave an extra hassle as the paperwork had to be done through the parent company above AMR.

Pros

AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

Cons

Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
