Pros

Very nice facilities. Excellent respiratory therapists! The hospital still has phlebotomists who draw labs on patients without central or a-lines. The environment is very safe and the staff is friendly and nice. If you’re healthy and don’t take vacation, you can cash out your PTO at 90% of your base pay.

Cons

Staffing is always short and the benefits are not the best. You have one PTO bank which you can use for sick and vacation time. You get very little PTO. An employee with less than 5 years seniority only takes home less than 5 hours of PTO a pay period. You also get deposits on holidays. 7.2 hours for nurses who work 3 twelve hour shifts a week. If anyone calls in sick, the unit will be short. Unit never provides PCT (tech/CNA) for night shift. The hospital is chronically under-staffed and as a result the staff is completely burned out. High turnover rate. Favoritism is present. Particularly among clinical coordinators with decades of seniority. Merit pay increases are based on reviews, not time served. Hospital uses Cerner on WOW’s. Computers not in rooms. Very threatening environment from management. You easily get written up for minor offenses and nurses have gotten fired when they accumulate. First, this hospital merged with Alexis to create AMITA. Now, it’s merging with Presence. Too much change in short period of time.

Pros

Nice small neighborhood hospital with many big hospital finds

Cons

When Amita health took them over, that's when it went down the tubes but now that this relationship is broken up, they are back on top especially having U of Chicago behind them
