Pros

Great product, colleagues, environment, decent benefits, good cadence with projects/campaigns.

Cons

- This is not a start up anymore. It wasn’t when I joined in 2018 and it certainly is not anymore. If you’re still operating like a start up when you’re a 300+ company, it speaks to the maturity level of the company. - AMBOSS touts that because it was founded by doctors, they know what’s best. And to a degree, that may be true.. but its also one of their biggest weaknesses because they’re so blindsided with their bias. Let professionals with the right skillsets do their job. COLLABORATE with them vs arguing to find the best solution. This also leads to a ton of micromanaging. Stop it. - Hidden toxicity: they make you feel like you should be grateful for this job (yes, most people are happy for a good job) but to a point where if you ask for a decent salary (despite preforming well or maybe not as well with or without guidance) they refuse and belittle you. AMBOSS does not set expectations early + clearly, so if you underperform in any way, you’re not considered for a raise, promotion, or even risk losing your job. I have also felt that men are more valued and their opinions are regarded more than women especially when it comes to promotions and salaries. - Nepotism runs high: many higher up people at AMBOSS all know each other before AMBOSS or they have stuck around since the beginning. Loyalty is great but in this case, AMBOSS has become a hive mind and if you disagree with any of them, you have a target on your back. People are hired internally to different positions despite not having the right skillsets or meeting requirements to raise to the job.

Pros

Fun workplace. Travel to different office locations. Fun colleagues. Solid PTO. Office parties, and lots of food and booze!

Cons

Pay! Seriously way underpaid. Also, no bonuses, or equity. Didn’t check your email over the weekend to respond to a client? Slap on the wrist. (Want me to check my emails on a weekend? Pay me more.) No possibility to move up in most roles, unless you’re in engineering or product development. This place is a revolving door. People quit or get fired all the time. I’ve stopped learning new employee’s names. Management here is as diverse as my taste in wines. White and cold.
