7yGlassdoor is an open platform enabling employees to write comments and rate their current and/or previous companies in order to give them the opportunity to improve and fine-tune their model. It is thus necessary to keep a strong level of measure and seriousness in the feedback provided.
The lack of substance, honesty and accuracy of the here above comment, cannot unfortunately be considered as a constructive feedback and the foundation of improvements but simply as the spread of unjustified and dangerous hatred.
However, it is necessary to address the different points through a factual way:
1. 5-star rating and positive reviews: While you seem not to enjoy your stay in the company, most of our consultants are actually satisfied or very satisfied by their on-going projects, their working environment and by Alten. As you must know, this satisfaction is monitored on a monthly basis through the employee’s platform survey and crosschecked by each manager during quarterly 1-2-1 career management meetings. Some employees are feeling completely comfortable and happy in the company, hence why, they decide to genuinely write positive reviews on Glassdoor. As you understood, none of the reviews are “fake”, twisted or corrupted.
2. Sexual Harassment: If these allegations are serious, please liaise immediately with our HR and Legal team in order to launch an investigation and tackle the potential issue the right way. Up to this day, nothing of this nature has ever been reported to the company.
3. “Screwing both clients and consultants”: Started from 0 in 1988, Alten is now present in 28 countries, employs more than 30000 people and works with the biggest and most prestigious companies in the world. I am sure you will understand that this growth and success story has been possible only through one approach: Putting clients and consultants first.
4. “No Training”: Unlike most companies, Alten has a dedicated training and knowledge development department that has only 2 purposes:
a. Providing project related trainings in order to enhance consultants knowledge and performance while working on a project.
b. Providing career development trainings in order to benefit from tailored courses in line with employees expectations and long-term projection.
More than 60% of our employees have benefited from at least one training over the last year and Alten UK more than doubled its training budget between 2018 and 2019 in order to train even more of our employees.
“Low Salary”: Talking to hundreds of engineers and customers every month enables us to have an accurate vision and understanding of the market. In addition, as mentioned in a previous review, Alten is continuously ensuring a relevant alignment between our salary policy and the UK market. This alignment is performed through the continuous collaboration of our Recruitment and HR teams.
5. “Lying Manager”: At Alten, Business Managers are entrepreneurs. They are in charge of “a company in the company”, their Business Unit. As entrepreneurs, they are encouraged to create positive and virtuous cycles and most and for most, to face their responsibilities. They have no interest nor need/will of lying. If you felt, there was a misunderstanding between yourself and your manager, I encourage you to have an open and transparent discussion with him/her.
In a nutshell, I can see that most of these topics are the fruit of a lack of communication and misinformation about the company. I actually identify this as an improvement opportunity.
Your review tells me that: Although Alten is striving to make sure all necessary messages, processes and policies are communicated on the most accurate way, it seems important to keep on getting better at it.
In your specific case, I would suggest you to have an open conversation with your manager and/or his/her n+1. Please feel free to include HR if needed.
On the longer run, I would advise you to tackle any issue/frustration at its ignition so that it does not become disproportionate. As an engineer, you probably know that the containment and corrective actions are easier to implement right after a problem occurs.
