Pros

Discounted ACL tickets and occasional concert

Cons

At Messina Touring Group, there was no leadership. Not only did the executives come and go as they pleased, the managers had no workflow and there were zero training initiatives for new hires. The expectations were entirely too high for being given zero instruction. The communication throughout the office was abysmal. The higher-ups kept everything between them and were threatened by any young, eager mind who was hungry for the music business. There is pettiness and cliques, and if they decide they don't like you they will do anything to belittle, ignore, and eventually push you out of the job. I worked there for almost two years, arriving 45 minutes early every single day with no acknowledgement. God forbid I left at 5:25p instead of 5:30p, I would hear about it from my supervisor the next day even though she left at 3pm and didn't leave me or my manager anything for me to do. I asked for more work or if anyone needed help with anything even outside of my department, almost every day. I was a slave to my desk and have never felt more bitter about a place or time in my life. After a certain amount of time passed, my self-esteem tanked and I lost any confidence I had in my skills and ability to contribute to the company I once held at such a high regard. I was under the impression I would be coached in marketing tours, but instead became the office's Account Payable liaison--did I mention I majored in writing? I learned a lot about myself during my time at MTG, and although I am still working on the PTSD from being there, I couldn't be more thankful for the new job I have now.

Pros

Everyone was extremely welcoming. I only worked about 14 hrs/wk, but I never had down time where I was bored with nothing to do. My manager was great about helping me set up coffee chats with people, which was great because I can be a little more reserved when it comes to that.

Cons

I was grateful to attend a couple shows where we had activations, but I never had any responsibilities on site. It was great to observe the order of operations, and I assisted as much as I could, but I kind of felt like I was just taking up space at times.

Pros

Opportunity to work within an organization that owns and operates some of the world's leading entertainment venues, festivals, touring artists.

Cons

Within such a large organization, roles and responsibilities can feel somewhat compartmentalized.
