Pros

For the most part, I worked with a wonderful, supportive team, and we typically all got along and worked together. The kids are great (if working with this population is what you're interested in). If you are a parent of a student at Accept and worried at seeing this review: I truly believe that your child is loved and emotionally/behaviorally supported by the staff (at least in my former department they were). The academics are definitely sub-par, so be aware that if your child is capable of doing grade-level work, they will likely have some catching up to do when they leave. But I have seen so many students form positive relationships with staff and peers and start to enjoy school, sometimes for the first time ever.

Cons

Do not work here. Administration is toxic (even after basically a complete admin turnover in 2019). You will never have the resources or support you need to do your job. No matter how many times admin says they hear you and understand you, nothing will change, and you will be blamed for failing to do the impossible. If you do interview here, ask them about the staff turnover rate. Ask them about lunch breaks, prep periods, staff training, and the available curriculum. And be very, very skeptical about their answers.

Pros

Competitive salary A team of professionals who care deeply about their students An administration always looking for ways to improve and boost morale Flexible hours as long as you’re there when the students are (come in early or stay after dismissal, as long as you get your work done!)

Cons

It’s an expensive area to live so it’s difficult to live close to work. The commute can be long

Pros

Accept has a great group of co-workers (for the most part) and student population.

Cons

Unfortunately, they began accepting students without ensuring adequate staffing, which led to unsafe situations and burnout among staff. There was minimal guidance from administration on proper protocols. When we were reprimanded for how we handled a particular situation, we asked for clarification on how we could have managed it better. However, the administration stated they would get back to us, but despite follow-up requests, we never received a response.
