Pros

Great benefits package that includes things like the very competitive 6% 401k match with Roth option, and unique but valuable paid day off before your wedding, and also an unusual but welcome seasonal 'surprise' days (treated to a treat/snack or similar small 'thank you' token). Regarding the hot topic of diversity, as you look at the top down, the company is still very white at the top and gets browner the lower you get but there seems to be real actions being taken to correct this. While MLK day is a floating holiday, it was announced (in July of this year) that starting in 2022, AAA Northeast will observe Juneteenth as a paid holiday. For general diversity (gender, sexuality, body type, ability, etc.) this has, by far, been the most diverse employer I've ever had. Also, lots of building renovations have been going on over the past few years and it seems like the designs have done a great job at considering the needs of different body types when moving around in these spaces.

Cons

Due to the structure, it can be difficult to advance in the organization. The organization has been around for a very long time and there are many who have been working at AAA Northeast for decades. There are a multitude of very specific business lines and your knowledge for one typically won't apply to another (Financial Services vs. Travel Agency , for example). This means that if there aren't any positions 'above' you in your business line, there's no where to go unless you want a shift in your career focus. Due to the longevity of the staff, people will advance into supervisory roles who have no experience managing people. More could be put into developing those skills. (As a PRO in this CON though, I have noticed a few occasions where an alternative advancement position was created for those who advanced into a supervisory role and then realized that they didn't want it. Instead of being "demoted" they were provided with a 'new' position to recognize and utilize their advanced skill set while not requiring them to manage people. )

Pros

After working 25 years in retail it has been a breath of fresh air to work for a company that truly cares about its employees (at every level). -a true work life balance -amazing benifits (the cost of which have not gone up) -a company that encourages volunteer time (during the week, and pays you to do it)

Cons

-after 3 years I still don’t have ANY cons to working for AAA Northeast.
