Pros

upward and side to side mobility

Cons

3d started out good, but seems to have finally started to crumble under the mismanagement of its leadership. Nepotism is rampant, and the majority of the high level people are related in one way or another. Which would be ok if they actually had the qualifictions. (they don't) All the money goes toward the ceo looking good. Private jets, bmws, expensive office, etc. But underneath theres just no infrastructure in place. they're always chasing after the next "big thing," and will wine and dine the execs in that area to steal them over, only to have them quit in a matter of months due to the chaos. Which leaves the employees struggling to fill roles that they don't have any idea how to do, with no guidance. But if they fail or trip up, theres massive backlash. The ceo Chris has a nuclear temper and is known to break things, scream, curse out people and fire them for disagreeing. He's a complete narcissist who loves to sit and talk to people about how humble and generous he is. Not even joking. Its made the whole environment toxic and paranoid, with people jumping ship left and right.

Please note: This review is written by the same person who continues to try and badmouth 3-D in numerous posts. We have notified Glassdoor and had some of the reviews removed, but they continue to repost under new email addresses. The review is from a disgruntled, former employee who posts outlandish comments and posts on any social media platform they can get on. They all contain the same typographical, punctuation and spelling issues and are all focused on the CEO's car, office and the company aircraft. The CEO hasn't driven a BMW in 3 years...so it is probably time for them to update their insults. 3-D has an exceptional Senior leadership team who runs the majority of operations in the office and the CEO certainly doesn't "break things, scream, curse out people and fire them for disagreeing". There is not really a better response for this review other than to say it is all complete HOGWASH. We hope anyone reading this review will easily see this is just a personal attack on the CEO and not a review of actual employment at 3-D Technology Group, LLC.

Pros

The Franklin HQ is in a beautiful location. VP and CEO are nice, pleasant and seem to be hard-working.

Cons

Some context: The company's bread and butter is work done by its field technicians. Looking at the job posting, one would think that the work is technically demanding, requiring an MCSA. The job, however, is not at all technically demanding; it consists mostly of menial labor. It is also from this same labor pool that 3-D Technology source talent for many of the lower functions in HQ. This creates an environment where best practices aren't necessarily followed and overvaluation of rhetoric/loyalty over technical excellence. Example: The company has put in countless man-hours and capital into their proprietary software for less than stellar results. (Note that the scope of the project is something that does not exceed a project you might expect to find in the portfolio of an above-average but not stellar jr. developer.) Much of the failure should be attributed to the fact that the product owner assigned was the sort of person that did not know the difference between agile and waterfall. Stories like this are not uncommon in 3-d. If these stories raise concern, I don't recommend that you work for this company.

Thank you for your review. While we respectfully disagree with some of your comments, we appreciate your feedback. First of all, we do not feel that any of our employees' tasks are "menial", and frankly your comment is insulting to the good, hardworking people employed here. We value all of our resources---at every level--- and try to mentor, empower, and train our more junior employees whenever we feel they may have the ability and desire to advance within our organization. Most highly functioning teams are not made up of cookie cutter people with the exact same skill or ability level...it is through diversity that truly great teams are created. As far as your comments related to our proprietary software development, we used an outside vendor for the bulk of the development. I am not sure what you are referencing, but I do not believe your opinion to be factual and it's certainly not relevant to being employed at 3-D. We are truly sorry you did not find the work here challenging enough. We wish you all the best. Again, thanks for your feedback.
