Pros

- Many of the ICs are fantastic people: talented and driven. They've built good bonds with each other and use those relationships to work together to do great work. - Interesting problem space. The company has ideas in a space that could really take hold - but only if the company is managed well and can execute.

Cons

- Low trust: turnover is high and much of that can be attributed to people given little-to-no time and space to have any real positive impact. - All failure is attributed to others, not to top leadership: there's always an excuse as to why things aren't going well, but its never a reflection of poor decisions. - Hustle culture to the extreme: unreasonable targets and seemingly little respect for employees ability to weigh in on the feasibility of what is being asked of them. - People are treated as disposable: you might be let go with little to no warning and leadership is not willing to make any investment into coaching and guiding people. It's not uncommon to hear things like "we're not a charity" and "we're not paying people to learn". - Internal actions and behaviours don’t align with publicly published values: the only value seems to be hustle. If you are led to believe that you're joining a people-focused organization, you might want to speak with some current or past employees and double check that.

Thanks for this review, we alway look forward to hearing from past 1builders and welcome all feedback--positive or negative. I am glad that you had a good experience with other ICs on your team and I apologize if you felt that other areas of your engagement with 1build did not meet your expectations. I do want to address a few points that I hope can shed some light on our culture: - We are extremely transparent with our decisions and metrics. We update everyone on the team on the weekly basis with KPIs like revenue and runway as well as publish progress on our OAKs (an internal version of the OKR framework). - Every major decision is discussed and debated at the company all hands. We have a format for publishing decisions (we call "testfit") that summarizes why a certain decision is being made and welcomes feedback from everyone on the team. We would not be able to run a company without the input of the folks we hire. - We invest heavily in teammate learning and development. In the past we have hired coaches to upskill our more junior engineering and go-to-market teammates into management roles. We also have paid for teammates's online classes and encourage them to explore new opportunities for learning. - "hustle" is not our cultural value. But we do believe stepping up to a challenge, delighting our customers, and winning together.

Pros

-be a part of something that is truly category defining -real start up experience: lots of moving parts and missions, have to put in extra hours but the problems are very challenging and interesting -leadership does a great job of setting direction and listening to the market. -They really care about creating a good culture and they work hard to address negative experiences.

Cons

Really fast paced and sometimes felt like we changed direction too quickly. It was not always clear what the underlying reasons were for some decisions- not all the context is shared. Could be a feature of start up life. Industry is difficult to sell technology into. May be a risk for scaling the company. There’s a big market, so still possible to grow. Company downsized twice so morale was not great. That said, received extended benefits and severance pay.

Pros

• 1build pushes its product to be better and continues to explore various possibilities it can be useful and meaningful to various groups. • Great place to work for - everyone I've interacted with has been nice, friendly, and professional. • 100% remote • Flexible PTO - working remotely, I thought I didn't need to take time off anymore but I was wrong. I've learned to take better care of myself and 1build supports my being away for a bit. • There is trust and a sense of appreciation in the (employer-employee) relationship.

Cons

• Very broad range of customers, specialties, and sub-specialties within the construction industry making it a challenge to find the ideal customer.
