Pros

During my time here, I learned alot about the education space, the teachers who use the product, and myself. The company has cemented it's place as a top LMS / PD tool for educators and therefore the benefits of hearing your work pay off from the teachers and students is priceless.

Cons

The company has lacked finding revenue model that works and is stable for years, its tried everything from selling admin tools to providing marketplace for content, but after trying all of these things seem to not scale to the point of getting anywhere near close to profitable. Another big con during my time was the lack of management or direction for the company. Leaders tried too many things and as a result of scrambling to execute, quality and stability came apart.

Pros

Passionate and smart coworkers, great office space, good communication between teams, great location in San Mateo (easy parking and food nearby). Culture was generally pleasant, food and snacks were good if you're into that sort of thing. Gym membership included for Crunch Gym next door. Natural light in the entire office.

Cons

Executive level managers seemed generally clueless and without direction toward a goal. Seemed like they hoped a larger company (a Microsoft/Facebook/Google) would buy them out and figure the rest out for them. High turnover rate led to an empty feel to the office sometimes. Others noted feelings of resentment from management when they were leaving the company (didn't happen to me, they just pretended I no longer existed).

Pros

Great engineers, very collaborative and communicative to push features out and debug problems. Great culture, employees are very friendly. A lot of efforts have been put into team-building events. Best/most supportive IT department I've ever worked with. The head of IT focuses on user-facing rather than doing procedural/ticketing-based setup, so any request/issue you have they will follow up and resolve as fast as they can.

Cons

All the great engineers have been steadily leaving due to terrible management and exec decisions. A lot of "inner-circle" protection going on with people in management. One in particular has had multiple severe HR complaints and violations, including harassment and very strong sexist bias of the female employees, and yet is still around due to protection from the execs. For some reason the IT department is also responsible for setting up all team-building and convention events. While IT has done an amazing job with it, it feels as if management either has some vendetta against IT, or is too cheap to hire an actual event planning team, but instead just add it onto IT's list of responsibilities. I'm actually surprised how IT has been handling all of this so gracefully while still efficiently respond to all the employees' issues.
