Pros

The work itself is challenging and interesting. And 99% of the employees and management are outstanding people who are fun to work with. Everyone is supportive of each other and willing to pitch in to help when needed.

Cons

The Boss. The Boss is a micromanaging megalomaniac. There isn't ANYTHING in that building that the Boss can't do 5,000 times better than you or anyone else on the face of the planet (nevermind the fact that he's the one who does ALL the hiring and training ... yet somehow manages to blame his prospects for not panning out). The toxic narcissism becomes even more obvious as you witness the breathtaking turnover, not just among hourly employees, but in management. At least a dozen managers have either been fired, pushed out, or resigned in disgust since the beginning of 2018. Kitchen, Operations, Sales, Marketing, it doesn't matter. The Boss is the expert and if you DARE make a mistake, you can expect SCREAMING. Literally SCREAMING, like the schoolteachers in The Wall. If you take a job there in spite of this review, do not be surprised when your ears are ringing and you're wiping spit flecks off your face while resisting the urge to respond the way you want to. Or, as in the case of one former manager, you actually punch the Boss in the face in a cathartic act of rage that everyone who works there takes great pleasure in hearing about. It's all just that bad. You can hear the screaming through the floorboards, through the doors, through the walls. Edison's is the Kingdom of the Boss and the Boss does not tolerate the slightest imperfection. And not only does he SCREAM at EVERYONE, but he talks smack about them behind their backs too. Constantly. And nobody is spared. Even the Kitchen Boss, his most trusted employee, gets frequently trash talked. This noxious combination of intimidation and denigration puts employees in an impossible position, knowing they're bound to mess up and that they'll be reamed for it when they are. With that kind of unnecessary pressure, it's nearly impossible to NOT make mistakes. But the kicker is that there are times where the Boss gives specific instructions, they're followed, but the Boss remembers them differently and STILL gets mad at the employee (multiple employees were familiar with this pattern). The Boss has effectively created an unstable, dysfunctional swamp of incrimination and cynicism. The Boss is petty tyrant who berates and belittles people to make himself feel better. Who knows why he's like this, but it's compulsive and even though he often apologizes after the fact and talks about how he needs to work on it, it never changes. Someone described it as having feeling like an abusive relationship, and it is. I hope an employees sues the Boss and takes half of Edison's from him. Maybe then he'll learn not to be so inhumanely awful and, irony of ironies, unChristian.

Pros

Great place for customers. High end and very well designed and maintained for being an FEC (Family Entertainment Center). Great customer service and competent people that put guest experience first.

Cons

Owner, who is VERY hands on, is a nightmare to work for. He screams and cusses at his employees and has meltdowns over the smallest details when they could easily just be training opportunities. While he says he wants people to be self sufficient in their roles, he requires your every move to be blessed so everyone is terrified to do anything out of fear of making a mistake and dealing with his wrath. Such a shame. It's the first job for some of these kids and he can't understand why they're terrified of him and why it's a revolving door. And don't dare stand up for yourself or its an invitation to getting fired. Saw that happen to a brand new manager who everyone really seemed to like.

Pros

Potential to make really good money pre-COVID, diverse groups of people coming in

Cons

Management is awful, does not care about your problems. Multiple health code violations broken and management did not seem to care. Owner is one of the most angry and small-minded people i’ve ever met. Said horrific things to his employees in front of customers. Embarrassing to be associated with!
