Pros

Working with students with special needs was very rewarding.

Cons

Immoral and unethical work environment. Staff are not treated fairly and there is no union to support against mistreatment. Human resources is corrupt and the administration is unqualified, to say the least. If you plan to work here as a teacher be prepared be required to pick up students from their homes and drive them to school.... then drive them back home too at the end of the day. Mind you, this will be done in your own car and under your own personal insurance. Illegal on many levels but no one challenges the school because they threaten to fire you if you don't comply. Most teachers start at 8:00 and work until 6:00 from monday through friday. Good luck trying to request a day off or plan a doctors appointment. In a nutshell its just a very negative work environment and definitely not worth the aggravation and stress.

Pros

The only good thing about working at Eden school is meeting and working with some amazing children who have so much potential and you get to be apart of their growth it’s such a rewarding feeling working in this feild

Cons

Alot of the supervisors and other higher ups have authority complexes. They are very disrespectful I personally never got into it with any staff but I’ve seen and heard staff members be yelled at and belittled. I’ve noticed a lot of staff that are not properly trained, come in without proper certificates and are litterally thrown to the wolves. No one cares if you get hurt no once cares if you need a break all they say is this is your job. This job isn’t easy I can’t stress that enough and at times it can be scary especially when you don’t have the right people around. There are class rooms that are teacherless and understaffed and some people take that for granted and sit and do nothing it upsets me very much considering this school has the potential to be great but the lack of team work and high school tendencies stops this promgram from flourishing. I’ve been working in this field for 5 years and I never been in a school quite like this. I’f you’re having a problem that is confidential keep it to yourself because if you tell the supervisor the whole school will know and even some parents of the kids in my old school this never happened because people were professional. We all worked together and was always there to help we always did beyond our job requirement because we cared we all know this field isn’t going to make you rich and may not pay all the bills but it’s worth it and rewarding in so many different ways we all just need to work together and when people aren’t it doesn’t feel worth it. There is more I’d like to touch on because there is way more going on here than I can type.

Pros

Pay is average for the field, they often promote from within, great individuals

Cons

Mostly based on Staten Island so Long Island residences are neglected somewhat. Odd upper management choices and possible ethical issues.
