Pros

My coworkers are all very supportive and great to be around. and the kiddos and families are wonderful.

Cons

So sort staffed center violates labor laws (ie. not giving paid 10 minute breaks, not giving staff time to breastfeed or pump if they need to) -In addition my director has lied to staff about labor laws. Staff quit after a few months and ELA is not doing anything to address the problem. Low pay which is unfortunately industry standard. 6 days of PTO per year (might vary depending on the state you are in) Limited benefits. Corporate run centers mean the Directors and teachers are limited in what they are allowed to do.

Pros

I loved how the preschool programs were separated into 2: younger and older. The children enrolled in the younger preschool program were still toilet training or have just started. So many preschool programs at daycares won't accept children who aren't toilet trained so I loved with this ELA location they have a whole classroom for those kids. Having an hour lunchbreak was also amazing. The longest lunch I've ever been offered was 30 minutes, so this location offering a full 60 minutes was awesome and a great change of pace. Most of the parents are great. You'll always have one or two parents who give you a hard time no matter where you work but I can honestly say that was few and far between here.

Cons

Pay was low but that's pretty much anywhere in this industry. Very little training was offered even though you're told upon hire you'll receive plenty of it. Coworkers can really make or break your experience. I felt like an outsider invading on the teachers' territory because the teachers have been there for so long. Generally, that's a plus, especially for the children, but the veterans there are not so welcoming and supportive to newcomers. Couple that with an even less desire to adequately train and eventually you just have move on to other opportunities.
