I worked at Durham Region Transit full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Money and Benefits are great. No leadership.

    Cons

Managing people has been transferred to Human Resources and the politicians leaving front line supervisors with really no say. No support for drivers when dealing with people who won't pay the proper fare or unruly passengers and complaints. No empathy is shown.

Union pays lip service to their members.

Junior employees work weekends and split shifts.

Passengers don't feel DRT listens to them because routes in Oshawa don't get commuters to work. The focus appears to get people to the malls. Buses for students are filled to capacity causing them to have to wait for numerous buses to pass before getting a ride.

    Advice to Management

No sense submitting anything because no one listens to employees. or passengers.

I have been working at Durham Region Transit part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay is incredible, you're always meeting and interacting with new people. you're not just in one place for 8 hours.

    Cons

I guess the only con is it takes a long time to get full time and not the greatest shifts when you first start.

    Advice to Management

Management is great, if you have a problem they will do alot to help you.
