      Pros

There remains a handful of great, passionate folks who are a joy to work with

      Cons

Leadership is inexperienced, extremely egotistical, and arrogant. Revenue-driven culture (i.e. no culture). No company values. Lack of honesty and transparency in internal and external messaging. Lack of robust and efficient processes. Lack of documentation. Lots of wasted effort and resources due to all of the above.

Kind of a mess of a company

Mar 15, 2020 - Software Engineer in San Francisco, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Flexible work hours, flexible WFH days, free lunch twice a week

      Cons

Too many to list. Clueless management changes company direction faster than a teenage girl changes clothes. Countless engineering projects are worked on for weeks and months, then discarded like nothing. Bad allocation of talent - engineers are constantly put on projects they don't want to do, often far below their skill level. People are constantly leaving, and the empty desks are never filled. Office is quiet and sad. Sometimes, the only company you get in a day is the sand falling from the ceiling onto your desk, which you have to wipe off with a paper towel daily (not kidding!) The codebase is a mess. It's very difficult and stressful to do simple tasks. Talented engineers spend lots of time and brainpower navigating through a bramble maze of a codebase, with low rates of productivity at no fault of their own. Trying to write code was like trying to pour water into a cup, except gravity kept shifting, causing the water to repeatedly miss the cup. How can you be productive like that? Projects rapidly change focus on a whim. Designs change often. You never know if what you are working on today will be useless tomorrow. All in all, it's just so sad to see a company which was great at one point devolve into a mess with clueless leadership, no direction, a depressing office, where awesome people are relentlessly leaving and never replaced, only weird people remaining, an impossible codebase, and talented employees who are put on deadend projects where they cannot grow. This is San Francisco, where there are countless startups to work at - there is no reason to settle for this one if you can help it.

      Pros

Company culture, especially on the finance and operations team is really good. They hired an experienced CFO and I've had a lot of opportunities for growing my role. I've had a lot of support in moving to a role that I really like and changed fields to find what I really want to do.

      Cons

Sometimes you have to wear many hats

      Pros

WFH very common and I can use it all the time. My team does one day a week work from home which is really nice. I really like my manager and have gotten a lot of help and growth from him.

      Cons

I wish we hired more people and faster. Right now it takes way too long to hire people.
