Toxic management and high staff turnover

Pros

Originally seemed to have good aims

Cons

Terrible toxic management with 0 openness to change. Very high turnover of staff. Happy to fire people for no discernible reason, leading to any meeting feeling like the one you could be fired in next. Constantly told you should be happy because you get a 4 day week, despite getting no other benefits above statutory and people often being expected to work more than their hours. Really really bad for diversity and inclusion whilst proudly saying the opposite on LinkedIn.

Pros

Seemed interesting on the surface

Cons

This was hands down the worst experience of my professional career. An absurd time in my life where I was made to feel incapable and problematic. Managers have a complete lack of respect and acted in bizarre and unexpected ways. No onboarding. No guidance or support. No willingness to conduct internal reflection on why they might have such a high churn of staff. Seem insistent on making the claim that the people they were responsible for hiring and have performed with excellence at every other job are somehow not able to perform here. The product is mostly just a python wrapper!

Pros

Office location is great, and the domains they work in are interesting.

Cons

They seem to combine the worst aspects of academic hierarchy and corporate HR practices, creating an environment that appears positive on the surface but isn’t in reality. There is very high staff turnover—both because people choose to leave and because the organisation frequently shifts direction and lets people go without much hesitation
