I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Unique products that give an edge in the market place

    Cons

Way too much to list. One of the worst corporate staffs i've ever had the displeasure of working with. Unorganized and money hungry. The company works on favourtism rather than equality. They are terrible at paying claims and have one of the least friendly customer support staff i've ever seen. I've lost many clients just due to the last two reasons. Don't waste your time with this company.

    Advice to Management

Learn to Manage. Not just dictate. Treat people better, stop playing with a scarcity mentality and start helping people achieve their goals. Everyone is just in it for themselves.

I worked at Combined Insurance full-time

    Pros

friendly enough people at home office

    Cons

combined pays lower than average, tends to attract a lower level of talent that comes with it. High home office staff turn around, leading loss of knowledge. focus is all on the agents and supporting them. staff are expected to do things that have nothing to do with their position, from chasing down refunds to making sure they get applied correctly to a policy, none of which is underwriting related. Lots of system testing done by unqualified staff, who really have no idea what they're doing. Things are done quickly to get high volumes processed, but nothing is done properly. Fixing problems instead of preventing problems is the norm.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to home office salaries. Try to retain talent. Otherwise the problems will continue.

I worked at Combined Insurance full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn and grow your career
Working on delivering latest technology solutions
CEO and CIO are both great visionaries and leaders

    Cons

There is constant change in the environment and you have to be prepared to adopt and operate in such an environment. There is some apparent politics and sometimes even turf wars taking place at executive layers.

I have been working at Combined Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company provides superior training and ongoing support. Their commission structure is very generous. They pay to train you. I have had clients claim and the process was simple. This company pays on it's claims! The company has undergone major changes in the last two years. Same great products, but updated marketing.

    Cons

If you want a paycheque for doing nothing, don't go into sales!

    Advice to Management

Management is awesome! Best people I've ever worked with.

    Pros

Pays every time, I've seen and heard so many stories of people getting paid from just a stitch and even worse. Love the support I get. If need proof we got it.

    Cons

Wish I had more reps in my town to work with.

    Pros

You're self employed Wich let's you get tax bonuses. Need to make enough for this yup be with while though.

    Cons

Being self employed is not for everyone

    Advice to Management

Move structure of earnings to base + commission. Larger sales force will over all improve earnings across the board.
