On a downward spiral.
Pros
- Interesting work, technically. - Local staff were some of the most talented individuals I have ever worked with. - Generous severance.
Cons
- Head office transferred vital functions (like sales) and decision-making (more like lack-of-decision-making) away from the local office. - Everyone could see that the US government budget cuts were going to drastically cut into our sales, but we were not allowed to diversify into other areas, and would not have a sales force to sell into other areas even if could. - Many opportunists to cooperate with other divisions were lost due to poor management and internal competition. - Closure of our office (Dartmouth) was handled poorly. Most staff were let go before any staff in Tampa were available to transfer knowledge. When the budget crisis is resolved and the government is ready to buy again, that knowledge will be gone.
