Pros

3 Days off per week and good starting pay for area.

Cons

Hours worked are unpredictable. You are scheduled for 4 days 10 hours or 5 days 8 hours but routinely stay after to finish the days work. It is rare but definitely not unheard of to work 7:30 am till 10 or 11 pm. You will rarely receive a thank you or recognition of the long hours and it is impossible to plan anything after work. Management is cowardly and borderline communist in their employee review and pay practices. No matter what you do you will receive the same performance review and the same raise. Someone who coasts along and does the absolute minimum will receive the same review as someone who volunteers for extra work or is given lots of extra work. If you get hired here do the absolute minimum. There is zero reason to do other wise. They will erase raises you got for longevity if you get moved to the next rank because everyone who gets moved up to the next rank will get the same pay. For example, if you make $17.85 because of longevity and another newer employee makes $17.00 and you both get promoted to the next rank you will start over at $18.50. Meaning your pay raise is less than the newer employee. Longevity means nothing to these people. They view you as 100% replaceable. They are cowardly. It is almost impossible to get fired from the microbiology department. There is an employee that has been written up several times and is a terrible employee who doesn't listen and who has not been fired. She was told not to stream music and streams music all day every day. She is told not to do things and does them 10 minutes later. The fact that there is no backbone to fire anyone and reviews/pay raises are not merit based makes everyone do the absolute minimum and often cut corners. The discontent with management is palpable and makes working in the micro dept. very depressing.

Pros

There are no pros here

Cons

Hired PT but will be required to work full time 12 hr days w no benefits and only a 25 min meal. Poor employee work environment. No training, no advancement. The turnover here is every 6 months. Managment and HR are solely to blame for this. Provided the type of work done here, training is critical, not just for the employees but also for the businesses they serve.
