Pros

Many good coworkers WFH flexibility on snow days Consistent schedule

Cons

HR policies & actions surrounding ADA accommodations border on harassment. They will force unpaid sick days & intimidating meetings with HR/Directors if your ADA form isn’t written exactly the way that they want, and will force ADA forms for almost anything including: permission to use lighting covers due to unacceptable lighting conditions in the office, permission to record/transcribe meetings with HR for transparency, permission to switch desks, etc. If you are competent, you will be drowned in work that others should be held accountable for doing and you will likely not be compensated anything extra for it. Disrespectful directors and assistant directors who unapologetically belittle the support staff on a daily basis. No upward mobility due to top-heavy management - they will tell you that a promotion “may” happen to keep you placated, but it’s more than likely that it never will. Huge decisions that affect support staff are made with little notice or concern to how it will affect operations or employee morale (i.e. bringing hybrid staff back to the office with 1 week’s notice when there is not enough parking for all staff, forcing staff to sign a new WFH agreement that gives the IU access to show up at your home, changing time clock systems, etc) I genuinely feel bad for CCIU students because the organization’s sole focus in student services is the money that they bring in rather than the quality of services provided to students. Good employees are always making the most of what little they are given with little acknowledgement or assistance from division directors The stress of this job is genuinely not worth the meager pay and inconsistent “opportunities” to work from home.

Pros

The benefits are better then most

Cons

Bringing everyone back to the offices, Only certain jobs are remote (IT). No work life balance, new clock in/out system. We used to be okay with the lower pay due to the perks of WFH, benefits etc. But it's not worth my time anymore.
