Pros

Sometimes its not so good but people talk and listen so things get worked out so its not stress. Stuff gets fixed so no big problem at end of the line.

Cons

I know they listen to what we say when we ask for different equipment and work methods but they don't understand sometimes. We need someone who can everything from all perspective to communicate from one dept to another.

Pros

The people are great, really supportive and friendly. They are really committed to diversity and supporting their employees. Senior management is great at setting and communicating strategy

Cons

Very much a siloed organisation. Middle management are busy making things harder for employees and don't trust them. Lots of pressure to work 60+ hours a week.

Pros

Good experience can be found and roles are well designed.

Cons

Caltex is an absolutely awful place to work. Fear pervades teams and projects causing a semi-rebellion. There is a tendency to avoid communicating bad news because there is strong habit of shooting the messenger, causing information about potential performance issues, like that to do with the retail to not be shared, with some choosing to bury their heads in the sand. The leaders are extremely passive aggressive in their communication styles and openly bully staff based on personal feelings. Favouritism is strong in the company culture and in decision-making around promotions. Caltex is extremely cliquey. Throughout the company there is a strong tendency towards blaming others, gossiping and using 'dirty' tactics to try and get ahead. Basic morality and decency doesn't exist here. There are no limits to the extent that extremely cutthroat colleagues will go to in order to chop down a competitor. Condescension of others across the business and arrogance is culturally promoted. There is zero support. Current restructures have spread a kind of trauma to some staff and caused fear to spike even more than usual baseline level perpetuated by bullying and a blame culture. Productivity is lost amongst all the politicking and endless passive aggressive attacks. Petty jabs were abundantly exchanged during the Financial Results Presentation and leadership sets a bad example. There is no inspiration provided by leadership that seems to be a distant wishful-thinking state given the current culture. On bring your dog to work day, one staff member who was bitten by a dog and consequently had a fear of dogs was not allowed to work from home for the day. Also one woman has left the Finance team over the past 7 months with one leaving in a huge storm.
