They don't know what they're doing

Pros

The majority of the people are fantastic. Very intelligent, friendly and great to work with and socialise with.

Cons

The management don't know what they're doing. They think you can read a few books about Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc., take the best bits and you're on your way to the next big thing. They aspire to a great culture and values, which made me want to join the company, but politics and game playing (something I was told wouldn't happen and wouldn't be tolerated) has reared it's ugly head and senior management are ignoring it. It makes working life very unpleasant for those caught up in it all. Many people are working very, very long hours and weekends to keep up with everything and are heading for a serious burnout if they're not careful.

Pros

Driven and Friendly People: The team at bit.bio consists of highly motivated individuals who are not only focused on achieving their goals but also foster a supportive and friendly work environment. This creates a positive and collaborative atmosphere. Genuine Friendships: Working at bit.bio offers the opportunity to form real and lasting friendships. The company culture encourages personal connections, making it easy to bond with colleagues both inside and outside of work. Investment in New Technology: bit.bio is committed to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. The company's ongoing investment in cutting-edge technology ensures that employees have access to the latest tools and resources to excel in their roles. Innovation: bit.bio thrives on innovation, consistently seeking out new and creative ways to improve its services and products. Employees are encouraged to think outside the box and contribute to the company's innovative initiatives, making it an exciting place to work.

Cons

High Risk on Clinical Product: The company places all its eggs in one basket with its clinical product, which may not ultimately work. This single-product focus increases uncertainty and potential instability. Additionally, there is a tunnel vision approach, which limits exploration of other potentially viable opportunities. Job Security Concerns: As a start-up/scale-up company, bit.bio faces yearly risks related to job security. There are recurring issues with securing funding, and the company does not invest or put enough focus on revenue generation despite having a good product. Clear Financial Mismanagement Deteriorating Culture: The company culture has significantly declined. While culture was a priority at first, bit.bio now harbors a toxic environment where politics permeate all areas. There is a notable lack of compassion and respect for staff. Limited Career Progression: Career progression opportunities are limited. HR's use of vague, benchmarked frameworks for career advancement creates a sense of gaslighting among the team, as these frameworks are not specific to job roles.

Pros

Senior Management have ambitious goals and vision and steam ahead without consideration for ensuring required infrastructure and support functions are in place and established which leads to unnecessary politics and stress.

Cons

Due to lack of infrastructure many personnel are working long hours and weekends trying to keep up with an overly ambitious program.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of bit.bio, and I'm sorry about your negative experience with us. We are an ambitious and fast-moving organisation, and recognise this and reward our employees accordingly. We regularly monitor working hours, and are pleased that this does not appear to be the case at present. We are recruiting to ensure we have the adequate resource, and offer many initiatives to support employees through our fast-paced environment, which we agree, isn't for everyone. We hope that you have found a suitable role and wish you the best in your new environment.
