I have been working at Biogen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Patient - centric. Driving decision making to right functions and levels. Diverse portfolio. Increasing global impact. Good benefits including sabbatical after 6 years in service.

    Cons

Neuro disease focus is a challenge and will require patience. This may be difficult to reconcile with short term Wall Street needs. Nimble decision making will increase uncertainty in workplace roles, responsibilities and locations.

    Advice to Management

Good transparency to date. Continue to trust and share.

I have been working at Biogen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Checks all the benefits boxes. People you work with tend to be better than most. Recently renovated lab facilities make research less soul crushing.

    Cons

Upper management is a revolving door. Once new "leadership" comes in and institutes their "vision", they're gone before their changes have even been fully realized. C-level and EVPs pay more attention to stock price than the people who work here. Estimated median life expectancy for VPs and above: 2.6 years.

    Advice to Management

Just because you are recently hired doesn't mean you need to stamp your change onto the company within 6 months. Learn to work with what you have and make subtle tweaks and changes instead of sloppy, disruptive reorganizations.

    I worked at Biogen full-time

    Pros

Dedicated people, benefits, social hours, good training opportunities

    Cons

Leadership is constantly changing things when change fatigue is a very real thing. People in senior positions only care about what makes them look good, not how it impacts their team. Work/life balance has become poor, with many drowning in work with no help in sight.

    Advice to Management

Work to restore the culture, and rebuild your reputation. Stop introducing new mantras, making changes, and continually focusing on the positive parts of surveys that still indicate people are unhappy. Continue to keep employees informed and like valuable resources, not replaceable parts.
