Pros

Downtown location = many methods of transit available when leaving the office after a day of harassment from management and ownership. This will be a great place to work if you would like to learn the steps of filing a discrimination complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal of BC.

Cons

You will be disciplined for asking for racial slurs to stop. This office suspended me for asking for racial slurs to stop. I approached management several times regarding the use of slurs and harassment in the workplace and was told that slurs to my culture were nicknames. Also asked for a standing work desk to assist with back issues and having to sit at a desk for 8 hours. I was told no. Management at this company are not educated people nor do they have any sense of multiculturalism. I was harassed by management at this company, even when on vacation. I strongly advise applicants to consider the fact that this employer has been asked by WCB to implement a protocol on harassment as they did not do so themselves. If you enjoy racism, this is a great place to work.

Axis Insurance Response
6y
The Axis Insurance Group recognizes that our success is enhanced by diversity and we strive to provide a positive environment for all. We recruit, develop, and retain top talent from a diverse candidate pool. We are proud to have a team made up of a wide array of ethnicities, orientations, and physical abilities working together in a culture of mutual respect and inclusion. We do not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices based on any characteristics or grounds protected by provincial and federal laws, nor do we engage in retaliatory action against those who raise complaints. With respect to this specific review, WorkSafeBC has already dismissed this ex-employee’s complaint, and we are confident that the Human Rights Tribunal of BC will come to the same conclusion.

Pros

Downtown location. Co-workers that care about eachother. Sometimes paid lunches.

Cons

Biased middle management. CEO pretends to care about employees but just likes money. Staff can’t go to management with concerns without being thrown under the bus. Company will purposely under pay you to save money.
